Whether your New Years resolutions are going strong or gathering dust, one thing is certain: a fresh start feels good. After the glut of holiday eating, my husband and I are back on our primarily vegetable-based diet. We have cut out desserts this month (our January monthly resolution!) and have been juicing up a storm. Here are 7 ways to reduce sugar from your diet.
Sliding into bad eating habits is so easy to do. If you have committed to cooking & eating cleaner this year, I’m with you (and would love to help!), starting off with a few of my favorite healthy recipes.
Here’s what’s for dinner at my house this week:
Monday — Spaghetti with Roasted Marinara Sauce (from the freezer), No-Knead Bread, roasted broccoli
Tuesday — Quinoa Patties, roasted sweet potatoes, green salads
Wednesday — Rice Bowls with Spicy Curry Sauce, fresh fruit
Thursday — Burritos with Crockpot Pinto Beans
Friday — Broccoli Gribiche, Corn Muffins, fresh fruit
Saturday — Dinner with Friends – TBD… any ideas?
Sunday — Dinner Out

for healthy entertaining, I like to have a pizza bar. We either get the large flatbread or the pizza dough from Trader Joes, and everyone puts together their own pizza toppings. I usually make carmelized onions and various chopped veggies (bell peppers, olives, spinach, artichoke hearts, tomato, etc.) along with a nice salad. It’s always fun to see what everyone puts on their own special pizza!

For your consideration… unless you meant dinner OUT with friends… our current favorite vegetarian dish: http://pinchofyum.com/southwestern-quinoa-and-black-bean-casserole. So tasty. I skip the jalapenos to keep it mild so my kids will eat it. My five year old daughter asks me weekly, “Can we have my favorite black bean quinoa this week, Mom?” 😉 It’s great on its own, served with tortillas or with chips, super filling (pair it with a salad!) and the leftovers for lunch the next day are sublime.
