As we move quickly into the Christmas shopping season, I am becoming more and more convinced that the fantastic deals will not be in the traditional brick & mortar store but online. I just love that retailers are encouraging me to stay home and sip a homemade mocha while taking advantage of their fantastic online offers.
Over the next five days, I am going to discuss several ways to save money on your online shopping. Just like shopping in the grocery or drug stores, the more strategies you employ, the more money you can save. But before discussing the practical aspects of saving online, the most important thing you can to save money is to make a plan. This will help you know when to jump on a deal and when to let an objectively “smokin’ deal” pass.
I suggest you create an actual list with the items you are shopping for and keep them by your computer or have the list in your smart phone. Refer to this list as you see deals to make sure the purchase fits within your plan. And just to make things festive, here is a list of adorable Christmas List printables:
- All Sorts
- Redeeming Love
- Christmas…Your Way
- The Project Girl
- Mom & Wife
- The Frugal Style
- Paper Glitter
Oh, the time you can waste on Pinterest…
Come back over the next week where I will be discussing five specific ways to save when making online purchases. Until then, how do you save my making a plan for Christmas?

I tend to plan way ahead and look for deals for months, spreading out my purchases so I dont end up using a credit card. My kids are getting older (12 and 17) so my husband and I decided to make a few larger family purchases this year, rather than stacks of stuff under the tree that will mostly be enjoyed for just a short period of time. I’m really looking forward to your future posts on finding online deals! The only time I ever enjoy holiday shopping is when I’m sipping a peppermit mocha and taking in the festive atmosphere, and NOT buying anything.

So do you believe a laptop will be better off bought online our in the stores this season? Black friday or cover monday?
Angela says
I think you can get a great deal on a laptop without enduring Black Friday, especially if you’re not looking for something super particular. You might pay $20-$30 more than in-stores on Black Friday, but I think your time is worth that (or probably more). My husband is great at finding these deals, so I’ll be sure to post them.
