Has anyone had luck paying for a new gift card with a previously purchased gift card?
Howard says
I think other readers have reported doing so. I use a credit card that pays me 3-5% cash back at supermarkets when I buy these. Anything I buy at the market counts, even postage.
Sandy says
is this advertised at the store? I looked all thru the ad but couldn’t find anything on this.
Howard says
It’s on page 3 of the 8-day ad that came in the Sunday paper.
Sandy says
thank you
Stan says
I don’t know if this went to everyone but there’s a Club card 4x gas points offer that came via email on gift-cards expires 4/22. Has anyone tried this to see if they work together? $100 x 4 or 40 cents/gallon at Chevron which makes this deal even better…
Miss Steph says
Yep, I did the Mastercard deal back in March and it gave me 4x the gas points. Sweet!
Cheryl says
I have the 4x gas rewards deal. We were doing a home project, so we stocked up on Home Depot cards. Got up to 30 gas rewards. That will be 3 fill ups. 🙂 Nice. Even at only 10 gallons each that will save us $30.
Cheryl says
It does say in the details not valid on selected gift cards (Amex, Visa, Mastercard). So i will be interested to see if it works or not,
Miss Steph says
Hmm…well, either there was a glitch in the system or I earned more gas rewards last month than I thought. Either way, it was a nice surprise at the gas pump!
Ariel says
Apparently Mastercard is the sole exclusion to the 4x gas rewards. Called customer service when I didn’t see it on the bottom of my receipt; like Cheryl said, you need to click on it to read the fine print. The gal on the other end was kind enough to give me the rewards even so.
JHollyhock (aka Jennifer H.) says
I did not get any gas reward points at all or the $10 Cat…I will have to email catalinamarketing.
kris says
I generally buy these and then turn around and pay a bill that accepts mastercard, that way I don’t have to worry about it. They do charge a 5.95 fee for each one.
jen says
So do you have to get a $100 gift card to get the catalina?
Howard says
I think you can get smaller denominations that add up to $100, but the catch usually is that each card carries the activation fee, making it a non-moneymaker. Someone else probably can verify this.
Miss Steph says
Howard’s right; each card has its own activation fee, so go for the $100 (or more, if there is one) card. Anything less than $100 won’t work.
