The Albertsons Safeway family of stores is currently hosting their national “Hunger Is” campaign through the end of September to help aid in the relief of childhood hunger in America. This program is designed to raise awareness, volunteer hours, and funds that will improve health outcomes for hungry children and their families.
The “Hunger Is” campaign is being lead by the Safeway Foundation and the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF). They are managing the local distribution of funds collected by each store to the local food banks in the communities in which the Albertsons Safeway family of stores operates.
I absolutely LOVE that Safeway and Albertsons are so actively involved in supporting local food banks and other resources addressing childhood hunger in our area. I noticed that this campaign has donated to several reputable food banks in the Pacific Northwest in the past and I’m thrilled to be able to share how you can join in the efforts to help the millions of children that experience hunger on a regular basis.
Your local Safeway and Albertsons stores have made it easy for you to participate in this campaign:
First, you can make a donation directly at the register! This option is available at select Safeway and Albertsons stores — just ask your cashier!
Second, you can purchase a participating product from one of these brands and earn a meal! Every designated product purchased supports “Hunger Is,” helping connect hungry kids in our neighborhoods to healthy food.
- Con Agra – Marie Calender’s, Healthy Choice, Bertolli’s and PF Changs
- Coke
- Unilever
- Kellogg’s
- Campbell’s
- O Organics & Open Nature
You can find the participating products by going to Albertsons.com — scroll through the brands and find your favorite products!
I headed to my local Safeway store and purchased four participating products, triggering the donation of four meals! And remember, you can use manufacturer’s coupons and a Safeway double coupon (if you’re in Oregon or SW Washington) on any of these items!
Remember, the Hunger Is campaign is currently happening at your local Safeway and Albertsons stores through the end of September.
