Most of these deals use a Safeway double coupon, which is available at Oregon & SW Washington (Wahkiakum, Cowlitz, Clark, Skamania & Klickitat Counties) Safeways only. You can double up to 4 manufacturer’s coupons per transaction, up to $.50 each. You may not double a coupon marked with “Do Not Double” or an internet printable coupon. The double coupon is found in the weekly ad at the bottom of the middle page and look’s like this:

I just tried to go pick up my tide for $1 each and the cashier said i could NOT use the in ad coupon and my manufacturers coupon together, only one or the other… is anyone else having this issue? Im thinking about hitting up a different safeway but don’t want to be turned down again.
Kate from Frugal Living NW says
I’m reading that you’ll need to have them scan the in-ad coupon first and then the P&G coupon
Jenni-O says
They refused my PG Tide coupon. They scanned the ad first and still refused the PG one. Said they already took that coupon…
Kate from Frugal Living NW says
Same thing happened to me just now. 🙁
Adriana says
It just happened to me! The cashier showed to me a memo that they received this morning saying we can’t stack the coupons 🙁
Howard says
I tried pointing this out a day or two ago (should still be in the comments below). The J4U site shows the ad cpn as a mfr cpn, so I wrote that stacking would not work unless you got really lucky. I don’t think Safeway or P&G really wants to give away Tide for 50 cents net. If Safeway had indicated “mfr cpn” on the newspaper ad version, most of this anger would not have occurred.
Howard says
All this “Tide” talk reminded me of the national epidemic of stolen Tide. People are shoplifting it from stores and selling it on the black market. Seriously. Some stores are locking it up or keeping it at checkstands or customer service desks.
Sierra says
I saw security tags on Tide at a Rite Aid in Portland, thought it was so strange!
Susan says
Quick note if you never used the $4 Hefty Ultimate coupon in the J4U account (not sure if it’s still available?). Hefty trash bags, including the small box of Ultimate (38 count), are down to $5.99 this week, so I got the box for $1.99.
A similar deal was back in July – http://www.frugallivingnw.com/safeway-hefty-ultimate-trash-bags-2-99-just4u-coupon/
Not all stores have the Ultimate – my local store didn’t back in July, so this time I hit a bigger store and found them in stock.
nancy says
Shouldn’t the lunchables be $1.00
Dana says
The coupon say “Redeemable” at Walmart, that must be different than “Avaliable at Walmart”, is it?
Kate from Frugal Living NW says
You want to look for the words manufacturer’s coupon at the top. If you see that instead of ‘store coupon’ you should be able to redeem it anywhere. There are few stores, like Albertsons, that will not take it but it’s always worth a shot if it does say ‘manufacturer’s coupon’.
Dana says
I found a honey bunches of oats coupon $1 off

Robin says
I have the Safeway ad that starts today. The $2 off coupon for the Tide is on the very front of the ad, and is a limit of 1. Just an FYI.
Jenn says
Thanks Robin! I feel a little daft having not seen the coupon on the VERY FRONT of the ad next to a picture of the VERY PRODUCT I was look for a coupon….. 😀
Stacey says
So where is the $2/1 in ad tide coupon? Looked in the Safeway ad, but did not see any.
Robin says
It’s on the very front of the ad. Bottom center of the page.
SarahS says
Is that an actual coupon? It doesn’t have the dashed line around it that the other store coupons do so I thought it was advertising the manufacturer coupon that was in the Sunday inserts.
Howard says
Good question, but it appears to be an actual cpn.
But be aware that it’s a mfr cpn, not a store cpn according to the J4U page.
Jenn says
So for the $5 Tide deal on Friday….the paper says “$2 off with coupon”, and above it says “in-ad coupon”. I went through the paper ad and didn’t see a coupon for the Tide. I went online and found a $2 coupon and added it to my card, but it is a manuf. coup, as is the $1.50 off on coupons.com….is that correct? Am I missing something? We can’t use two manufacturer’s coupons on one item, correct?
Howard says
Correct. The J4U cpn is indeed a mfr cpn and not to be combined with a paper cpn, in theory. The best way to go would be to use the $2 newspaper P&G cpn and double it. Although I imagine some people will report being able to use the in-ad or downloaded J4U mfr cpn along with the paper one and doubler. But that’s not how it’s supposed to work. (The in-ad cpn is on front page of ad and is a mfr cpn, regardless of what it does or doesn’t say on it.)
Susan says
This promotion is definitely confusing – my J4U account actually shows the Tide with an in-store price of $3.99, so I just acted a little confused at checkout and presented my P&G coupon after they figured out how to get the $3.99 price. The cashier muttered “I shouldn’t do this”, but applied the coupon and doubler anyway and I got the Tide for $1.49. YMMV.
Traci says
I bought 4 boxes of Honey Bunches cereal yesterday (Tues) and rec’d 2 Post catalinas. One for $3 and one for $2.
Stephanie says
They did limit on the $5 Tillamook cheese last week.
Trina says
I can not find any post cereal coupons, they were not in the 7/27 ss and i cannot find any to print. I get the Oregonian, did anyone else have success finding theirs?
Christy says
None in the Oregonian, but there is one for Honey bunches of Oats in the June All You if you have that.
christy says
The luvs diaper deal might be wrong since Safeway doesn’t double computer printed coupons.
Jodi n says
Mine does.
Chrisyt says
The doubler states “This Doubl’r…does NOT apply to any… This restriction includes coupons printed from the internet,…” The Safeway you go to has cashiers that don’t know or are authorized to overlook this rule. Mine on 136th and Mill Plain in Vanc are sticklers. Where do you go?
Jodi says
I know what it says. *shrug* The cashiers may or may not. I haven’t asked. I live in eugene, and all of the stores here and in the surrounding areas do. Probably a little out of your way though.
Howard says
Re A&H litter: I haven’t seen the Safeway ad yet, but I’d wager the 9-lb litter is the Clump and Seal, and the 20-lb is the regular litter. The $2 cpn is good only on 19-lb or higher Clump and Seal. I don’t know what the $3 cpn is for–it’s a DumbSource cpn and I can’t print it–but I suspect it’s for large-size Clump & Seal. There’s also a $1 cpn on 14-lb Clump & Seal in the 6-1 SS.
PJ says
Thanks Howard, I bought the A&H litter on sale today since you pointed out last week it was a good buy. The only problem is getting the stuff in my house – 40 lbs, UGH…..I know everyone raves about the clump and seal, I just can’t get over paying the extra for it yet.
Howard says
Yeah, those big boxes–even the 25-30 lb ones–are a pain to carry around and pour. My son went to buy a 40-pounder Tues nite (he’s the world’s #1 procrastinator) and had to get a raincheck. He did get a 40-lb store brand for 9 bucks, though.
shelly says
Does Safeway limit the number of the $5 deals? I’d like to do the Tide deal of Friday. Can I do as many as I have coupons for?
Howard says
The $2 Tide cpn clearly states limit 4 per day per household. But Safeway generally does not limit purchase quantities on $5 items.
shelly says
Thanks!
charolyn says
The store coupon for $2 does say limit of 1. You would need other family members to buy, as Safeway stores generally do not allow multiple broken up transactions-like rite aid does. However there may be a few stores out there that are more lenient-in the hillsboro area I don’t know of any!!
Howard says
See the discussion above. The Tide deal is not necessarily as wonderful as it appears. Both the in-ad/J4U and newspaper/digital cpns are mfr cpns.
Elaine says
I can’t find the Oscar Mayer Fun Pack Lunchables coupon. Is it gone already?
Michailah Williams says
Hi-the Kelloggs link and Keebler links are not working. They are giving an error message…on all of them throughout the Safeway ad for 7/29-8/5…:-(
marie says
$1.00 off dreyers are gone
Janene says
we did get the $10/$50 coupon today!
Cheryl says
:O What?! Nice. I need that for our camping trip next week. Sweet! I was not expecting it until next week (the first Tuesday of the month)
Howard says
It usually comes the Wednesday closest to the 1st of the month, which is this Friday.
nancy says
putting the $10/$50 coupon should be a headline! if i’m not alerted to it, i dont always search my paper til its too late! thx for catching it, & i’m so glad i read the replies!!
Laura, SW Pdx says
Nancy – I love that idea re headline for $10/$50 weeks because I often miss them/forget to look until too late. One of the joys of those $10 coupons for me (because I hardly ever get to $50) is handing them out to other shoppers with full baskets. I have 3 to hand out this week and it’s really fun! You feel like Santa…
Howard says
I used to do that at Albertson’s when they’d mail me those $5 and $10 off $30 purchase cpns and I’d be buying only one thing. As far as Safeway goes, the $10 cpn usually appears on the Tues/Weds closest to the first of the month. No doubt because so many people get paychecks, Soc Sec and pensions on the first.
