You can double up to 4 manufacturer’s coupons per transaction, up to $.50 each. You may not double a coupon marked with “Do Not Double” or an internet printable coupon. The double coupon is found in the weekly ad at the bottom of the middle page and look’s like this:

Check your J4U personalized deals on Fridays (I get tipped off by email). Today they gave me a free Clif Mojo trail mix bar and a box of Horizon mac and cheese. Between the 2, that covers all my basic food groups. Valid till 6-17. Also, there’s a free York Peppermint Patty bar available for activation at Savingstar.com–must activate and purchase by 6-8 at FM/RA/QFC/Alby’s and use club card. And 20% off of loose oranges good till 6-9.
Cheryl says
Howard, 4 food groups, does that include chocolate?
I got a free energy drink and a free kevita beverage. Guess Safeway had me on the liquid diet.
charolyn says
Well don’t I feel snubbed by Safeway-no free deals for me 🙁
But I do appreciate the reminder-as I tend to forget to look.
Also the savingstar-the free York will be GREAT at rite aid today with the +up on candy! I almost always forget that free item also!
Howard says
Yes, “Cher” (do you miss Sonny?), one of the 3 flavors is dark chocolate, so I’m good to go. Maybe next time you’ll get free beer.
trina says
Wow was in safeway today, two ladies cleared the shelves of tide literally had their carts full…even though the ad said limit 1 and the manufactures coupon limits 4 they didn’t seems to care…this folks is what gives couponers a bad name….
superjaz says
Wow, I wouldn’t want to be behind them in the check out line. Half the time I use coupons I get the 3rd degree and always check limits and such.
Howard says
“Time and Tide wait for no man” (or innocent shopper, I suppose)
michelle says
times like this, get a raincheck…
charolyn says
The raincheck will work-unless my load2 coupon expires before then.
I am VERY surprised also-I have found Safeways very strict on rules & can’t imagine any store would allow that. As they should NOT! And I agree-gives couponing a very negative reputation.
Cheryl says
Well, this is confusing on the tide deal in the Safeway app. They have it listed as $3.99 and a $2 (appears to be store coupon). So not sure ifboth will come off and then I can use my mfc coupon and maybe a doubler. If everyone can leave one bottlefor me, it might be a great deal. Free or money maker.
Cheryl says
Never mind, I just looked at the paper ad andit says “with coupon” on the part that says $3.99. A little confusing on the app.
Btw, confusing is their them for me this week. They gave me the ad for the grand ‘re-opening of lake Oswego. So I either drive out of my way or look up the local ad. Frustrating. I have a train check for king city. Do I drive the extra 4 miles each way? Hmm…
Abby says
You can use a rain check at any Safeway. It just “saves” the sale price for you since they were out of stock.
superjaz says
I would check specific store policy for the rain check. I was told at Safeway that I had to use them at the store I got the rain check. I am sure it varies store to store.
Cheryl says
Well my rain check is for the free oxyclean detergent i went to the store 3 times and they were out everytime. So for a freebie, i think i will go to the same store. But, do i want to drive an extra 5 miles for $1/lb savings on steak? And MAYBE save on chicken? Hmm…
Howard says
I believe you are right, although most cashiers probably won’t look at the store number on the rain check.
True Joy says
It looks like the Dads and Grads gift card $10 OYNO of $25 or more groceries catalina promo starts this sales cycle as well. 🙂
(Whoa…that sounded confusing didn’t it??????!!!???)
:-\
Howard says
I spent a lot of time yesterday at coupons.com and THINK I may have seen a $1/1 Capri Sun cpn there. If not, then maybe it was in a Sunday circular.
Elaine says
There’s a $.50 digital coupon on the Safeway website in the Coupon Center.
Jen says
Does it actually say on the 50/10 coupons that the $10 comes of before manf. coupons? The last time I did this they took my manf. coupons off first before the $10. Hard to figure out your trip if you don’t know how they will process the coupon.
charolyn says
From many, many comments on just this topic-it varies depending on who your cashier is & possibly the store.
It should be after in store coupons, but before manu coupons. If your cashier will scan it -it will work if you have meet it after the store coupons-some will try & some will refuse.
I do also believe it excludes liquid dairy (had that mess me up once & I was so close).
You could ask at customer service first to see what they say (and be aware, you may, or may not get a knowledgeable person-even if it is the manager!).
Howard says
I believe it says somewhere on the cpn that it’s valid after all store discounts (J4U pricing, store cpns). Hand it in first, then hand in your mfr cpns after they deduct the $10. Best way I know of to make it work and avoid an argument.
SBrooks says
Howard has the best advice. Hand over the 10/50 first and then hand over your mfr cpns. Works everytime and saves the argument with the less experienced checkers. 🙂
DEANNA says
Print the Safeway coupon policy and take with you. It is very clear to state it is after all Safeway discounts but before any manuf coupons are redeemed.
superjaz says
yup what Deanna said, here is a link to the coupon policy
http://www.safeway.com/ShopStores/Justforu-CP-RL
“The manufacturer’s coupon would not be deducted from the total for purposes of determining reward eligibility”
So in theory if you had $40 worth of mc coupons on a $50 transaction and a 10 off 50 coupon, it should all be free.
A lot of times people (who don’t coupon) question the value of free items coupons for things you don’t use and such and this is one. Use them to get the total down to hit the $50 mark, can always donate the extra you don’t need.
jen says
If you have the app you can find the coupon policy under “More” then “Terms and Policies” then ‘Coupon Policies”. Save the paper and weight to be carried around.
My store can be poopy about the $10off $50 and make sure I have that page up before get to counter.
michelle says
The mango powerade is not included in the $.69 deal. They are on sale for $.79 though.
charolyn says
The tide would actually be $1.50 I believe-as the .50 double would be taken off also.
Brittany from Frugal Living NW says
Good catch. I’ll fix that. Thanks!
Stephanie cheney says
I just loaded the $2 ecoupon for Tide and it uses the word “Save” $2. I am wondering if it is a manufacturer coupon. $1.99 is a good price for me to add to a $50 transaction, but not $3.99. If this works for anyone, please leave a comment:) Thank you!
Howard says
I just checked. The $2 is a one-time mfr cpn. An alert flnw reader tipped me off a couple months ago that if you click on the name of the product on the J4U page, it produces a pop-up screen that tells you the type of cpn.
Stephanie cheney says
Thanks Howard! For the information anyway…sad about the actual price being $3.99.
Janene says
click on the picture of the product? I’m clicking and nothing’s happening. is it the cell phone app that works?
Howard says
Click on the NAME of the product. I don’t know squat about cell phone apps.
