Safeway has the $10 off $50 in Wednesday’s Oregonian. There are a number of ways to use this coupon to your advantage.
:: Meat Stock-Up
Meat can be a hard item to get at a rock bottom price. The clearance meat section can also be hit and miss. When Safeway has their Eating Right chicken on sale for under $2 the same week as the $10 off $50 coupon, its time to stock up on chicken.
:: Weekly Shopping Trip
Some weeks we just need to save an extra $10 off our grocery bill. I have even handed them out to the person in front of me with a cart piled high of their week’s groceries. Everyone enjoys saving money and $10 is at least two and half coffees!
:: Most Bang for Your Buck
Then there are weeks I calculate the entire trip down to the penny, wanting my total to come as close to $50 as humanely possible. The goal is to stock-up the pantry and throw in some bananas for good measure. (I don’t want the cashier to think my kids only eat processed boxed food!)
These trips also help pay the babysitter. Each Saturday my husband works at the hospital, a sitter comes to watch the kids for two hours while I run errands. In exchange, she is paid with two bags of name brand groceries. Every college student’s dream!
My goal for these trips is to spend under $1 per item. This week’s total came to $27.99 for 34 items. You can find this week’s Safeway deals here.
Now it’s your turn. How do use Safeway’s monthly $10 off $50 coupon?
Safeway doubles most manufacturer’s coupons to to $.50 each in Oregon and SW Washington.

Does anyone know if Silk milk is considered liquid dairy in the $10/$50 fine print?

I use it to stock up on meat too! When chicken breast are $1.99 in the frozen bag I buy the max amount because with the extra 20% off it come to about 1.59 per pound, great price.

Definitely look for meat and dairy clearance and I also try to buy large items like decent priced Toilet tissue or Laundry soap. That way we get what we need at a 20% discount and often that means meat for the week. Sometimes if it is Friday, I use the $10 off $50 to pick up a take and bake at Safeway rather than at Papa Murphys. Easy way to get the convenience food cheaper. I love $10 off $50 weeks!

I was able to combine this $10/$50 coupon and $10/$25 coupon from buying selected giftcard. This made an awesome deal on formular when also combining that w/ formular coupon and doubler.

Last week I absolutely couldnt wait any longer to get ground beef for burgers. But prices havent been good if you want lower fat. But I checked the clearance section and they had Sirloin beef preformed patties on clearance. Normally $8 for 4, but with half off, it came out to $3/lb. I figure thats a normal good price for ground beef at 90-93% lean (this was 90%). So i bought a bunch.
Talk about getting your bill to $50, last time my total was like $50.05. With coupons and $10 off it came down to $19-20
