This week I thought it would be fun to highlight some of my family’s favorite things. Honestly, it has been an interesting challenge to figure out what we actually love and find useful. If this place went up in a blaze of glory, what would I actually replace with an identical duplicate? Honestly, not many items hold that place of distinction in my home.
I promise that everything I post are items we truly love, use and value — you certainly can’t go wrong gifting these things this Christmas season.
I’m kicking things off with our new favorite thing — What’s in the Bible? DVDs. What’s in the Bible? is a new DVD series from VeggieTales® creator Phil Vischer designed to walk kids and families through the entire Bible (they are up to the end of the Prophets in the Old Testament).
Just like Veggie Tales, What’s in the Bible? is entertaining for both children and adults and our kids have learned tons about the Old Testament through the first few DVDs. I especially like that the series doesn’t dumb down the Bible and it’s history because it’s a kids’ show. There is some serious “meat” to these lessons — I find myself learning so much along with the kids.
We just finished the Why Do We Call It Christmas? DVD and that thing is thorough. We now know the history and meaning behind Christmas trees, St. Nick, the Roman Calendar and more because of this video.
If you would like your kids, grandkids or any kid on your list to understand more about the Bible, both the stories and the truth behind each story, you really can’t go wrong with any of these DVDs.

So excited to share this information with my children. Thank you! They get so confused as to why our biblical traditions have different meaning from the rest of the world.

It was a little odd seeing this post right after Assassin’s Creed.
