Today is the first day of August. Translation: time to stock-up on school supplies NOW! And I’m not just talking about what is on your kids’ school supply list. I am talking about ALL your office supply needs from pens to printer paper to post-it notes. This is literally a once a year sale that extends for a solid four to six weeks of the lowest prices EVER on office supply items. Here are a few tips to follow and help you succeed during this sale.
Sign up for store rewards
Staples has the easiest rebate program on the planet. When purchasing an item with an Easy Rebate, submit the information on your receipt online and then within 4-6 weeks you will receive your rebate in the mail. Depending on the rebate type, you may receive a Gift Card or Gift Check to be used only at a Staples store or a Rebate Check or Visa Prepaid Card that is similar to cash. Head over here to find the answers to all your questions. These rebates can be rolled, as in submit one rebate, receive it back in the mail and use it to purchase your next item with an Easy Rebate. This is a great way to get inexpensive copy paper as there are usually a number of Easy Rebates throughout July and August.
Quarter and penny deals
Each week, the main office supply stores have a few items on sale for only 1¢ to 25¢. Stores use these items to draw customers in, but as a couponer, we focus only on purchasing these loss leaders. Be aware that the limits are usually below five so multiple trips might be necessary if it is an item you use on a regular basis throughout the year.
Stacking coupons
Target has been an excellent example of stacking coupons this season. You can stack a manufacture coupon with a Target printable coupon, a Target mobile coupon or Cartwheel offer, and a gift card promotion. That is like a quadruple threat people; the perfect couponing storm! P.S. That might even happen next week starting 8/3. We will post the sweet scenarios once Sunday’s paper is here!
Donate your extras
At the end of the season, decide what will last you the year and then donate the rest. Your local schools would love extra supplies for kids in need. You could even save some supplies and put together a lovely basket full of brand new supplies for your child’s teacher at Christmas. (Trust me, as a teacher there is only so much room for “Best Teacher” nick knacks!)
Check the site
Finally, each week we put together the best school supply deals here in the Pacific Northwest. This list is consistently updated to bring you the very latest deals for your office supply needs. Be sure to check in often so you won’t miss a deal!
