I’ve talked a bit about our trip in a RV across the mid-west last month. One of the absolute highlights was our stop at the Mt. Rushmore KOA, which is located a short drive from Mt. Rushmore.
Eight of us lived in this bad boy for one week (Grandma was taking the picture).
The Mt. Rushmore KOA provided us the perfect resting spot as we discovered Mt. Rushmore and the surrounding Black Hills of South Dakota.
This KOA is way, way more than just a place to park your RV. It’s filled with fun activities for the entire family to enjoy and some amazing amenities, including luxury cabins (okay, they look more like small houses).
Our kids had a great time buzzing around on the various bikes and other pedal-vehicles available for rent.
Even Lucy enjoyed her time.
The Mt. Rushmore KOA also has resort amenities (some of them are seasonal and were not open during our stay), including a pool, hot tub, mini golf, cable TV, wifi, a jumping pillow, playgrounds, and a full-service restaurant. I was sicker than a dog while the kids were enjoying many of these activities, so they were not documented, but trust me, they had a blast.
If camping or RV-ing isn’t your thing, you should check out the lodge and cabins available at Palmer Gulch. The facilities are beautiful.
Yup. Those darn Presidents were covered by fog for actual trip to the Mt. Rushmore park.
We really loved that the Mt. Rushmore KOA was a very short drive to Mt. Rushmore (like under 5 minutes) and allowed us to enjoy the greater Black Hills area. You honestly can’t get closer to Mt. Rushmore. With all the activities and amenities available on-site, you could easily stay for a number of days and never get bored!
