Wow, what a list! My iPod seems to have died, so I’m motivated to buy another one. I don’t have a lot of luck with these; I’ve gone through 3 in about 10 years. Only the first was still under warranty.
I THINK (not sure) the 10% senior/military discount is based on the price AFTER the savings/bonus cpns, so it’s 10% off of that price, not the original price. So the $119.99 iPod might be $107.99 and not $106. Great deal either way.
Seems to me you could add $10.01 in other qualifying merchandise to the $139.99 iPod to make it $150 or more, then apply the $30 bonus cpn instead of the $20 one. Four years ago, I bought an iPod at FM for $149.99 and the clerk threw in a $1 passport holder to make it $150.99, enabling me to use the $30 bonus cpn.
Howard — The Savings Certificate says after all other coupons and discounts, but honestly, I trust your experience with Senior Discount Days.
I talked to a sales clerk at FM today in electronics dept. He said the senior/military discount comes off first. (By the way, the senior discount is today only; the military one is Thurs only. There’s another senior day on Dec 20.) So your calculations are correct.
He suggested I buy $170 worth of product, such as the $139.99 iPod and $30.01 or more in the 10% bonus cpn categories. Example:
$139.99 iPod – 10% sr/military = $125.99
$30.01 other stuff – 10% sr/military = $27.01-10% bonus = $24.31.
Then the savings certificate of $30 would kick in, with a net spend of $120.31. So for an extra $14 OOP, I’d get $30 in bonus cpn stuff.
Might do it tonight, haven’t decided yet.
