October arrives on Wednesday! I am looking forward to the rain and the slower pace of fall.
Fall Produce
My garden is starting to wind down. The tomatoes, cucumbers, and green beans are almost finished. My pepper and kale plants are still producing like crazy. In about two weeks, I’ll plant garlic. For more information, check out this complete post, How to grow garlic.
The kids have picked the pumpkins. We’ll use the smaller ones to make Pumpkin Puree. I’ll bring in the last of the butternut squash soon. This recipe for Butternut Squash Carbonara will move to the top of our menu plan.
Apple season will peak in the next two weeks. Check out our All About Apples post for some of our favorite apple varieties and ways to preserve them.
Whether you are in full canning mode or interested in learning how to can for the first time, our Canning Guides are a great place to start!
