I HAVE GOTTEN A LOT OF PHISHING EMAILS LATELY. I CLICKED ON THE LAVA HAND CLEANER COUPON AT THE BEFRUGAL COUPON DATABASE & GOT A WARNING TO NOT CONTINUE TO HOPSTER.COM BECAUSE IT IS APPEARING TO BE A COUPON SITE BUT IS A PHISHING SITE TO GET PERSONAL INFO. I HAVE BEEN DIRECTED TO HOPSTER.COM MANY TIMES FROM THE BEFRUGAL COUPOPN DATABASE BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE GOTTEN THIS WARNING. CAN THIS TYPE OF ISSUE BE CONTROLED BY YOUR WEBSITE TO BETTER PROTECT ITS USERS?
PJ says
Sooooo excited it’s being offered in Clark County! I’m going to take the class again. You never know if there’s something missed watching it before. Thanks Angela for getting this offer to us!
Angeleen says
I took the class awhile back and never got a phone call about getting the newspapers.
Kate from Frugal Living NW says
email frugallivingonline@gmail.com. Thanks!
Kathy says
Hi, is it the same price as last year? I took the class last year and I still get my 5 papers. Im not sure when my script ends because I didnt receive all my papers a few times and my neighbor admitted to me he was taking 1 of mine because he was not getting his. I informed him I paid for mine and would appreciate at least my coupons. He stopped taking my paper once I called the paper and they gave me credits for missed papers and I believe they took care of him too.
So if its stolen by the neighbor or you dont get all 5, call your distributor and theyll get you tajen care of.
Nancy says
Do you know of any other newspaper offer for Clark County in Washington?
Angela Davis says
Unfortunately I don’t.
Terry says
Do you know if I just sign up for this deal and cancel my regular subscription, would my hubby still get the Oregonian online issue daily? Thanks.
Howard says
I’m not 100% certain, but when I canceled my 4-day delivery in March and took 2-day delivery, I still had and have access to the website. I know it lets me log in and enter their occasional contests, so it should also let me access the daily paper–I think. I do know there are a load of stories available to read; I just don’t know if every single story from the paper is there.
Howard says
I also remember that when they switched to the tabloid size and 4-day delivery last October, they informed me that only those who subscribed at least 3 days a week would have access to the daily.
Heather says
I took the class last year and was receiving the newspaper deal but I had to cancel because my neighboor kept taking my paper even when they hung the bag from my doorknob. I am ready to try again but do I need to watch the class again?
Angela Davis says
Nope! Just email me and I’ll get you hooked up!
Rebecca says
I took the class in 2012 do I need to take it again?
Desiree says
I specifically asked you if I can get this deal and you told me its for NEW people only, but here it says
Participants in this free web class will be qualified to get up to 5 Sunday Oregonians delivered at a substantial discount! This deal is available to new and current Oregonian subscribers.
Can I do the deal or not?
Howard says
I signed up for this Sunday’s class, even though I probably should be teaching it, hohoho. I currently have a renewed Weds/Sun only subscription that expires in mid-August. Recently canceled my additional 4-day subscription and I hope to add two more Weds/Sun papers after taking the upcoming class this weekend. I won’t be surprised if they impose a hefty boost on these 2-day subscriptions very soon, maybe next month when they change the size and format of the paper. I doubt that my subscription that expires in August will renew at a reasonable price (like the $19.99 per year I paid in Aug 2012 and 2013 for it), so this should be a good time to dive in.
Stacey says
I took the class in January, but never got a call for the paper subscription. Can I please get signed up?
Angela Davis says
Stacey: Email me!
SarahS says
I did the class last year and just got my renewal but it was only for 8 weeks. Can I renew through Frugal Living NW to get the full year?
Joy says
Help! I have a question about tipping your newspaper delivery person. Do you tip? How much? The Oregonian suggested to me $1-4 per WEEK. For that price I can just go to the store myself! Suggestions???
Jenn says
I haven’t tipped my delivery person…apparently I’m a jerk! I didn’t realize that was a thing….how do you tip them, exactly? Throw it on the lawn where your paper usually ends up? 🙂
Joy says
Jenn, I haven’t tipped either! I didn’t know I was “supposed” to. I’m lucky if the paper lands in my yard and not the middle of the street 🙂 There is a space on the bill for gratuity. I was just wondering what other people give.
Howard says
I went years and years w/o tipping the carrier. Finally started a year or more ago, about 10% of my bi-monthly bill. They get up in the middle of the night, 7 days a week, and deliver the paper in all sorts of crummy weather. You can add the tip when you pay your bill online or by mail. If you have easypay, I think you can add the tip to that and it will be directly debited from whatever account you’ve chosen.
Debbie says
Newspaper delivery people appreciate whatever tips they get. It tells them that someone is grateful for their early morning reliability.
How much is the special subscription rate through the class? I only want one Oregonion rather than multiple copies.
Thanks!
Jenn says
When will you be holding another class? I seem to keep missing them!
Glenda Hart says
I wosh this deal was available where I live. People have been stealing all the inserts out of the papers and today by 9 am there wasnt an Oregonian within a 25 mile radius. I only buy two papers and couldnt even get that.
Lori says
Glenda, Depending on where you are, some grocery stores supply the Sunday Oregonian for purchase on Saturday Night. Just a suggestion to get a jump on coupon stealers. That’s not OK! Sorry you’re dealing with that. You may also let friends know that you’re couponing. I let co-workers know as well as my church for them to clip what they need from it, and rather than throw it in recycling, get it to me. I use what I need, and get the rest to the local Legion Hall for shipping to soldiers overseas to use on base for up to 6 months after they are expired. Good luck!
marie says
Glenda, I have the same problem. I live outside Rainier Ore, and there is no small stores, so I have to use the paper boxes. If the papers look messy, I hold it open and check to make sure it’s all there. 1 oregonian box they put rubber bands around the papers, so that one’s safe. And the oregonian won’t deliver to me, they say it’s too far. They do deliver within a mile, but they won’t make the exception for me, even if I bought it 7 days a week (sigh)
Though I do have neighbor that gets the local paper and saves me the inserts.:)
Christine says
If my subscription isn’t up until March, can I renew and extend my subscription now to take advantage of the deal before the price increases?
Jenn says
I’m with Christine…I too would like to renew before the price increase…should I just call the number Howard posted and ask?
Angela says
My subscription is up in a couple weeks, do I have to cancel that one before I sign up for the class price?
kris says
I took the class last year and just got my renewal in the mail. It is $3.08 for 8 weeks. I think that works out to about the same as $20 a year?
#totiredandpregnanttodomath
Howard says
No it sure is not. Love your hashbrowns or hashtag, or whatever that is called. (I don’t tweet, but I whine a lot.)
I pay $3.25 per week for 4-day delivery (Wed/Fri/Sat/Sun) which is what I paid before for 7 days. Also paid $19.99 ($.39/wk) for an extra Weds and Sun paper in Aug 2012 thru flnw.com webinar, which I renewed online thru the Oregonian in 8-13 for same price for one more year. That price may no longer be available, but I would call them and ask. 503-221-8240. If the price goes up for me to say, $50/year or more for the 2 extras, then I may just bag it and buy a $2 paper when I feel like it. But those Sunday papers may go up in price, too. I heard today that they may be switching soon to a smaller-sized (tabloid) daily.
Lily T. says
I did a class last year, and my subscription is about to expire. Do I have to do it again? & I’m curious what the price is this time?
Mia Bell says
Hi! (not sure if my first comment went through). Is this for first time Oregonian subscribers only? I took the class last year and have loved having multiple newspapers. My subscription will be up soon and I was wondering if I would be able to renew at the same great discount by participating in the class again. Is that possible? If not, what do you advise? Thank you so much.
Mia Bell says
Hi! Is this deal good for only first time Oregonian subscribers? I took your class last year and have absolutely enjoyed having multiple Sunday papers at my door! My newspaper subscription will be up soon and I was wondering if I would be able to renew at the same discounted price by taking the online course again. Is that possible? If not, what would you advise? Thank you!
Angela Davis says
Yes, you should be able to renew at the discounted rate, although the Oregonian is planning to increase the price per paper at some point soon so hopefully you’ll be able to renew before that happens.
Mia Bell says
Great! Thank you Angela!
Jenny says
I was supposed to start receiving my five newspapers today bu woke up and they aren’t here. Any chance they’ll come later in the day or did something happen? I received a call from the Oregonian a couple days ago confirming they’d be here today, so now I’m not sure what to do. 🙁
Terry says
Help! I attened the web cass last night. When I clicked the link to register for a call to order the oregonian it would only take me to Jan 10ths class to request a call back for Fri 1/11. I filled out the info but was concerned the message might have gotten lost because of that. Please contact me to resolve this woops if I have been lost out there someplace.
Thanks sooo much for all you do!!
Angela Davis says
We had a problem but we got your info. You’ll be getting a call soon!
Lo Adams says
Savings on the Oregonian does that mean a year of savings on the price of the paper or just a trial basis of a couple weeks?
Angela Davis says
A year.
kristina says
HI, i accidentally signed up for the wrong class on a day I work. Can i re register? i need to change from the 23rd class to the morning 22nd am class on wed.
thank you
Chris says
Is there a Web class on the computer or do we need to attend a class?
Angela Davis says
This is a web class.
Margot says
I would love to get the Oregonian delivered to me in Central Point, OR. Last time I checked on line it said that I was not in an area that it could be delivered. Is there something about what you have to offer during your web class that might allow it to be delivered to me?
Angela Davis says
The deal is only available to residents in the counties listed above.
Caro says
Unfortunately, I live in the Southeast part of the People’s Republic of PDX. We don’t get the same coupons in the Oregonian. I wish I could find a coupon database that would list the ones we get. Anyone have a source? Thanks.
Kate from Frugal Living NW says
We did have one for a while but it didn’t get much use. The best way is to ask others here on the blog if they have received a coupon. Most people will answer quickly.
Caro says
Guess that other database must have been before I signed on with FLNW. I’ll try your suggestion. Thanks!
Dallin says
Am I able to just renew my current subscriptions at this discounted price? Ours expire in March.
Howard says
Mine came up last August, and I renewed it online for a year at the same price, $19.99. Not sure if that still holds true.
Stacey says
I did the web class in January and never got a call to sign up for the papers. Can you help me get enrolled?
demiji says
My subscription just expired, I had paid 39.99 for 2 papers a week, W-Sun. I called the Oregonian and asked to renew at the same price and they offered me .99 a week for 1 paper, W-Sun. .99 X 52 wks= $52 x 2 papers = $104. I signed up to take the class again, since I wasn’t able to renew at a reasonable rate.
