A few years ago my daughter came home from school absolutely adamant that we needed to find something cool to give her friend for Valentine’s Day that didn’t include sugar. Her friend has Type 1 Diabetes and couldn’t eat buckets full of candy like the other kids at school could.
Since then, I’ve become aware that there are tons of kids with food allergies and other health conditions that need to be careful about what they eat. And no parent of a child, food allergy or not, is thrilled about sending their kids to school and having them sent home with what amounts to a cavity in a bag.
So I’ve made it my goal to find (and create) some awesome Valentine ideas that are cute and fun for kids that don’t involve candy.
These Valentine’s use LED finger lights that kids absolutely love!

I don’t have a color printer, so I dropped the printable file onto a thumb drive, then took it to Office Depot to get printed.
These LED Party Finger Lights (48 ct) on Amazon are less than $8 and would be perfect for this project. I’ve also used them while jogging on dark mornings, and they are great to give the kids to use while camping.
