The last two times I’ve gone to Freddies, when I’ve used store coupons, the cashiers have scanned them and just handed them back to me. I’m delighted about this (yes, I would like to stock up on more $2 butter), but this does seem new. Has anyone else experienced this? Do we think this is a new policy?
Joy says
They have never required you to hand over the coupon. Depending on your cashier and/or how busy it is…they may let you repeat your transaction (within reason of course). They just scan the coupon again for each transaction. Just remember that the computer will only recognize the coupon for the limit amount listed. If it is ‘limit 2’ only 2 discounts will be applied.
Howard says
Several readers have reported this in the past. You can ask for the store cpns back if they don’t offer. I get 3 newspapers, so I have no need to get mine back. But I wouldn’t try to use the same cpn a 2nd time moments after using the first. Sort of defeats the policy of limiting the sale price items. It has to be a really boffo deal for me to go back another day and use the same in-ad cpn. I once fed a large family, so I understand the desire to use these multiple times.
Joy says
Except all registers keep one copy of the ad. They keep this copy and scan again and again. (As does Safeway). Sometimes even the nicest of cashiers will show a customer who is buying a sale item their ad and will point out the coupon and scan it. If you ever forget your paper…just ask the cashier and they will have one you can use. Then they tuck it neatly beside the register to be scanned again for another customer.

FM has Arm & Hammer 32 paks (10% Bonus) laundry detergent for $2.99 There are $3/2 bright pink peelies on them = $5.98 – $3 = $2.98/2 = $1.49 each = 4.6 cents a load
Jennifer Day says
FYI. the seventh generation is for ONLY for Laundry Products, not the dish soap that’s pictured. 🙁 I needed dish soap.
Miss Steph says
I was at Fred’s yesterday…dish soap IS included.
HR says
The Ocean Spray coupon is specific for Grapefruit juice only. Does anyone know if it will work for a different OS flavor?
Howard says
I think others have reported more than once that it works on any flavor, at least at Safeway. It’s very tempting to try to use a mfr cpn on something other than what’s pictured or stated, but I do my best most of the time to avoid that. As do most of us.

Another reason to do the surveys found at the bottom of your receipt ,other than the fuel rewards, is that they appear to trigger you receiving Kroger /Fred Meyer mailers. They are little booklets highlighting different issues, organics, a holiday and so on. These booklets are packed with truly awesome coupons! $2 off a $10 meat purchase will pair beautifully with this week’s 99 cent chicken and the $2 off a $10 deli or bakery purchase will work great with the sale turkey breast. Truly worth your time to do these surveys.
Howard says
Thanks, I get the mailers regularly, so it’s probably because I do the surveys all the time. Others have wondered why they don’t get them.
angie h says
I never do the survey’s and get the mailers, possibly because I do have their visa.
Jerrilynn says
I don’t have the visa nor do surveys, but I do get the mailers? Maybe it’s store location?

Walker rd Fred Meyer had some similar coupon deals this week and last week as part of their grand reopening after a remodel. The coupon inserts were found in Wednesday’s paper 2/$1 barilla pasta, 10lb potatoes for $1.49, Oreos for$1.99 and fage yogurt 2/$1. Today is the last day for that.
Howard says
You can possibly get a $1/2 Barilla pasta cpn on their FB page by playing their fun little match game. I had to play it 3X over 3 days before I won one. I tried to print it multiple times and it worked twice. I believe you can win 9X between now and Oct 31. Tigard FM has it thru Sat for $.50 limit 4, so I’m getting 4 for free. Mamma mia!
angie h says
Thanks Howard, just won a coupon !!
Howard says
Phooey, coupons.com barred me from printing the Outshine cpns, alleging I’d maxed them out. I think I printed some a month or more ago for a posted sale that didn’t really exist, or something like that, and they expired. I LOVE those suckers!
Jennifer says
Does anyone know the coupon.com location zip code for the seventh generation $2/1 coupon? Was going to print from my phone app, since my computer isn’t allowing me to print:( Thanks!!
Kate from Frugal Living NW says
I don’t know for sure but I would try 77477. Look in the coupon database. Sometimes they list the zip.
Shawna says
Darn it! I just bought cheese at cash & carry! At least it was only 2.77 a lb!
kirsten says
buy more, it freezes 🙂 and I went to C&C today and bought cheese.
Karen says
The anniversary ad deals look great…I just hope they don’t end up going on strike. I saw it on the news today.
Kate from Frugal Living NW says
They better not mess with our deal on cheese 😉
Howard says
Tigard FM, in its ongoing duel with the new WalMart nearby, is having a great 4-day sale thru Sat. Barilla pasta $.50 limit 4, Skippy PB $.99 limit 2, Oreos $1.99 limit 2, Irish soap $.99 limit 2, Crest $.99 limit 2 (all require in-ad cpn which may or may not be available at the store). Also Philly cream cheese $.99 limit 2, A&H liquid detergent $1.99 limit 2, Big K soda 12-packs $1.99 limit 4, Seattle coffee $3.99 limit 4, Fage Greek yogurt $.50 limit 4 (no cpns needed for those items). Some of these deals can be combined with mfr cpns, of course.
Howard says
Also 2X rewards pts with reusable in-ad cpn thru 10-11. The ad was in Weds Oregonian, at least in my neck of the woods.
charolyn says
Little tip about finding FM’s ads at their stores: as they are often gone in the stands when you walk in-but I have had good success finding them by customer service-they usually have bookcase type shelves on the sides of that area. Of course-best luck earlier on in the week.
charolyn says
Thanks too Howard for the 2X coupon tip-I missed that 🙂
Kate from Frugal Living NW says
Let’s hope it’s in the new ad because I threw mine away. I love those gas rewards.
Howard says
The double reward cpn (thru Oct 11)is for the Tigard store only and does not apply to fuel points.
charolyn says
Thanks for the clarification Howard-I jumped to conclusions, hoping for more points 🙂
Kate-my favorite place for gas also! Do you do the surveys on the receipts for the 50 bonus points? That helps a lot & you can submit one every 7 days.
As a matter of fact I compared gas prices last Tuesday-with Costco-which was only .01 cheaper than the .03 off you get at FM with your card & more expensive if you even have one .10 discount!
Kate from Frugal Living NW says
Oh, I know! I see those people waiting in the hour-long Costco gas line and feel awesome about my FM gas rewards. I haven’t done the survey yet but I’ll do them now. Thanks for the tip. My mom also uses my Rewards card 🙂
kirsten says
I got gas at Costco today and the wait actually wasn’t bad. Normally I do not bother because FM is closer and I rack up the discounts.
Howard says
I’m not a Costco member. Do they make you buy the gas 100 gallons at a time>? 🙂
Howard says
I always do the fuel point surveys. If you shop more than once in a week and get a survey code, be sure to wait till at least 6 days have passed since your last 50 points posted, or you will get zippo. You can check when they post at the FM website under rewards and fuel point activity. The pts usually post the next day.
Lindsey says
It was me who mentioned the Costco price. It was $11.99 for 4 lbs, and we haven’t bought it yet. I Was waiting for a sale and I’m glad I did, this is a much better price!
Kate from Frugal Living NW says
Thanks Lindsey! I’ll update the price. I thought it was 5 lbs and yes, I’m glad you waited 🙂
Janetta says
I just paid $11.99 for 4 lbs of butter at Costco today… It’s gotten higher every time I go to buy it.
Susan says
Along with everything else!! REALLY happy to see the butter for $2 ! 🙂
Joy says
Have you ever made your own? My kids love making it!!! It just takes a jar and Heavy cream. Fill half way full and shake until the buttermilk separates and butter forms (about 10 min. DON’T GIVE UP…shake until you hear the buttermilk sloshing.) Please don’t think I am crazy 🙂 like who ever makes butter in this century?? But it is so easy to find heavy cream on closeout. You get 1/2 cup butter, and 1/2 cup buttermilk per cup whipping cream. It is much more easy to have a carton of heavy cream anytime you need butter, than to wait for a sale 🙂 Plus you can burn some calories to counteract the butter you will eat lol 😉
