It’s time to celebrate dads everywhere! Father’s Day is quickly approaching (Sunday June 21st in 2020). While things are still fairly weird and up in the air (who knows what June will look like!), these are some gift ideas for the outdoor enthusiast. Whether camping and hiking are open where you are right now or you’re just in planning stages for the future.
Father’s Day Gifts for the Outdoor Enthusiast
These are fantastic multi-use tools that will help him MacGyver out of any situation. They range in price from $15 – $85.
Bear Grylls products
If he likes to live on the edge like Bear Grylls (or just really likes his shows), be sure to check out Gerber’s line of Bear Grylls’ knives, sharpeners and other outdoor tools.
Quality backpack
If he is ready to hit the trails make sure he’s outfitted with a great backpack. Amazon has several to choose from but you could also check out the REI Outlet.
LifeStraw Personal Water Filter
Clean drinking water where ever you go! Removes almost 100% of all bacteria and parasites and is a great addition to any camping kit (also perfect for an emergency preparedness kit or to keep in the car). If he likes to go on long hikes or hunting/fishing trips, this would make a great gift.
Comes with firestarter, compass, emergency whistle, small knife and 12-feet of military grade paracord. Perfect for wearing while hiking during a camping trip, just in case of an emergency. Note that reviewers mention you must remove the bracelet from your wrist for the compass to work.
Power bank (keeps phone charged for emergencies)
This gets fantastic reviews and says it is waterproof, drop-proof, dirt and snow-proof. Perfect if he’s tent camping and doesn’t have a great way to keep his phone charged.
This LED Torch Flashlight comes with a rechargeable battery and can last up to 13 hours after full charge. Super bright, long distance beam, making it perfect for trekking around at night or trying to find the bathroom at a campsite.
Local hiking guides
If he loves to hike and just get outdoors, make sure he doesn’t get lost with a hiking guide like Day Hikes in the Pacific Northwest. If you don’t live in this area, just do a quick Google search for your area and you should be able to find some good resources.
Not necessarily a great gift idea, but the mobile app All Trails is an excellent resource for finding good hikes in the area you live or are visiting!
If these ideas don’t quite get the creative juices flowing, don’t forget to check out The Clymb, a flash sale site devoted to all things outdoors based out of Portland.
