No luck with 2 coupons at the Hillsboro store on Baseline. The cashier stated you can only use one coupon when it’s B1G1 deal. I asked if it was a policy change and she said yes, about 4 to 6 months ago. There wasn’t anyone at Customer Service yet…Otherwise I would have asked for an updated policy.

I just went to the Albertsons on Beaverton-Hillsdale and when I tried to use two coupons on the La Victoria tortillas, the checker looked at me like I was trying pull some sort of scam (for a dollar?!) and said “you can’t use a coupon on a free item” in a condescending, accusatory tone. He also felt like giving me his personal philosophy on my purchases (I didn’t ask). Strangely, throughout, he was nothing but polite (except for the coupon shaming). Is there a way we can nail down the actual, current coupon policy? It sounds like it’s hit or miss or up the the discretion of the cashier (and their mood/location/patience level for couponers).
It helped that I found this awesome deal: on their tiny markdown shelf, they had a few 12.7 oz bottles of Torani pumpkin spice flavored syrups marked to $1.99 (originally $4.99) that had $1 off peelies on them, making them .99 each! I will drink pumpkin anything year-round, so I was pretty stoked to find them. I also noticed on the shelf that there were several cans of Pringles, Pillsbury (I think) holiday cake mixes and frostings, and Snuggle. Check it out! and if there are still some bottles of the syrup in a few days, I’m taking the rest!!! 😀

our Albertsons in hillsboro Oregon has always told me that I cant use a coupon on the free item. but u can use a b1g1f coupon with a b1g1f deal and get both free.what am I doing wrong?

No doubt someone will correct me, but I don’t know of any store that will allow use of a BOGO cpn with a BOGO deal. Generally speaking, Albertson’s and RA will usually allow use of a cents-off mfr cpn along with a BOGO cpn, with some restrictions. On a store BOGO deal, you can usually use a cents-off mfr cpn with it, although some cashiers/registers deny them if they’re cents-off on two items (such as $2/2).

There is a new La Vic $1 tort cpn in today’s circulars.

Thanks for posting this! It’s a spectacular price for tortillas.
I’ve always used two coupons for BOGO deals without any problems. I think Cheryl got a “special” cashier on her trip. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed that my store in Albany has the product on the shelf. They typically run out on the first day of a sale and never restock.

Got them! No problem with two coupons either. I’ve been using two coupons for BOGO free deals since before the internet was invented without any issues. 🙂 Two items, two coupons.
Howard says
Technically you can’t use a cents-off cpn on a “free” item, although a few stores allow it. If they would just sell the products at half-price instead of BOGO, this would not be an issue. But then they would not sell as many, and reduce whatever profit they make on each item.
Howard says
Upon further review: if this was a BOGO, then why even attempt to use two cpns? Or is Albertson’s one of the stores that allows you to use two cents-offs on a BOGO? (I wrote the above w/o realizing it was not a straight $1.24 per package deal.)

A few years ago Albertsons came out with a coupon policy that said your could use a coupon on a free item. Since then the chain was bought out, so assuming they didn’t change the policy, you should be able to use both. I don’t go to Albertsons often so Krista would have to give you the last word on this one.

Be warned, I just tried this in king city. The cashier told me that the coupon states one coupon per purchase. She interpreted that as one coupon per transaction. So I got 2 for $1.49. $0.75 each. Not bad, but not as amazing as I hoped.
Howard says
She is wrong, wrong, wrong. That has not happened to me in about 30 years. I would have told her where to stuff the 2nd package (back on the shelf, of course, what else?). Was the cashier Molasses Marie, the slowest checker this side of the Willamette? She once didn’t let me roll a catalina onto a subsequent transaction, so I had to save it for a week.
