Magness Memorial Tree Farm (Sherwood)
Summer is here and sometimes as a family all we need is just some time away from home but close by. My son and I love going to Magness Tree Farm, located in Sherwood, Oregon.
We can choose between loads of trails to take depending on our fancy. My son usually chooses the straight up the mountain path while I go for the lazy walk. We have had many “discussions” and he usually wins out since I can’t talk myself out of not getting healthy.

This place is really nice. Many trails are handicapped accessible. There are cabins to rent if you want to camp and picnic areas you can rent for cover or head to the big lawn and suffer under the sky. This place is good for families with littles and want a nice day retreat close to home. Some trails are paved and others are bark chipped or plain path.
Cabins and covered picnic areas can be rented for overnights and parties.
There are no food facilities nearby but there are outhouses of the typical variety for use. It has a smallish parking area (I have never been there when there was more than 4 cars in the lot but I imagine on very warm days parking may be crowded) and lots of room to run around.
Make sure you bring food and plenty of water when you visit. It is a twisty road to get there and it seems like it is far but with Magness being about 4 miles from Sherwood or 10-15 driving minutes (on back roads) from Wilsonville it is a perfect distance.
Kidlet would not drink out of the fountain no matter what I tried to bribe him with. Smart Kid! He is yelling NO at me. BAHAHA!
Magness is a nice, pretty, quiet, and calm place to go anytime of the year. Tae and I have been known to go during a rain storm and make appropriate use of our galoshes; PUDDLE STOMPING at its finest! So no matter what the weather (well maybe not in a wicked storm) head over there with the kids and spend an hour looking at the trees and finding cool bugs to snap pictures of.

Hubby and I went her a year or so ago. It was fun. We got so twisted around going across the road and back. I was exhausted after. One granola bar was not enough to hold me over. Would love to go there again. Stay on the trails, keep your hands and feet inside the path..there is Poison Oak.

Wonderful. Thanks for the article. It will be a pleasure to have a hike where it is not too crowded and such a perfect path too.
I don’t believe they allow the “public” to camp overnight (by renting a cabin). You have to be part of a church or youth group. It is a fun day spot, though.
