Thanks to everyone who participated in Thursday’s webinar! It was a great time and it sounds like all of you who were there live or watched the video replay after learned some valuable tips to getting your grocery budget under control.
I received this email from Katie who participated on Thursday:
Thank you for the webinar. It has solidified my resolve in finally being committed to saving money on groceries. I wanted to sign up for the Ultimate Couponing Course in August, but wasn’t sure I would really be dedicated.
Since then we have gone over budget each month and even dipped into our bills account, which as you can guess, resulted in not being able to pay one of our bills. I am tired of always wondering if we are going to have enough money to make it to the end of the month. So, I have signed up for the UCC and I am committed making our budget work for us so we can make it to the end of the month and have everything we need.
Can you relate to Katie’s story?
When my husband and I decided to get our finances under control, I observed that most of our cash flow plan line item amounts were fixed. There wasn’t much I could do quickly reduce our mortgage payment or debt payments or school tuition. Yes, there are strategies to lower these costs, but they involve a bunch of time and research and we needed to cut costs somewhere fast.
Couponing and strategic shopping was our golden ticket. With just a few hours of work, I was spending less on our groceries and household items without changing the way our family ate. The return on my time investment was excellent and after a few months of practicing my new savings skills, we were able to get our grocery and household budget (including diapers) down to less than $300 a month for our family of five.
While my grocery budget has grown (as has our family) I still employ the same savings strategies that I outline in the Ultimate Couponing Course. Budgeting, intentional shopping, strategic couponing, and sensible stockpiling has saved our family thousands of dollars over the past few years. Thousands of dollars that we’ve diverted to getting debt free, paying for school tuition, saving up for a new-to-us car, and generous giving.
As you can see, it’s not just about getting more mustard, toothpaste, and Windex for less money. It’s about taking control of your budget, telling your money what to do, and using your savings to accomplish your financial goals.
