OMSI Membership Discounts
Groupon is offering a smokin’ deal on yearly memberships through tomorrow (5/8):
Get a 2-person yearly membership for $41.65 when you use the code MOM15 at checkout ($90 value)
Get a family membership (2 adults + 4 children) for $50.15 when you use the code MOM15 at checkout ($105 value)
UPDATE: Make sure you’re logged into your Groupon account or you won’t be able to use the code. Try MOM20 and MOM25 to see if your account qualifies for the 20% or 25% off offer.
The discount code didn’t work for me, but maybe it’s because I had a $6 credit sitting in my account so they wouldn’t allow me to do both? Let me know in the comments if the code works for you.
Want to save even more? Fred Meyer is offering $15 off (2) $25 Groupon Gift Cards, which means you can pay $35, get the OMSI family membership plus $14.85 worth of additional deals from Groupon!
To get the Fred Meyer deal, follow these directions:
1. Log into your Fred Meyer account (you’ll have to link your account with your Fred Meyer Rewards Card).
2. Load the Groupon offer to your card. Click “other” to find the offer quickly. Some people have found the offer under “promotions” and “general.” It’s different for everyone. Totally a pain, but it is there. Just keep scrolling.
3. Go to your local Fred Meyer and purchase (2) $25 Groupon gift cards. Scan your rewards card at checkout and your total should be $35.
4. Go home and purchase your OMSI membership through Groupon (as outlined above), paying with your Groupon gift cards.
You should have $15-ish (if you’re buying the family membership) left over on your Groupon gift cards to buy other Groupon deals. Find more Portland local Groupon deals here.
As with all daily deals, make sure you read all the fine print before buying. Note you have until September 30, 2015 to activate your year membership. This means the clock starts ticking when you go into OMSI to activate.
Head to Groupon to get your membership discount!

They are sold out now of the family membership 🙁 That’s what I get for waiting for the 4x the fuel points! haha.

I tried ordering, I got this message. “There was a problem submitting your order. You have exceeded the purchase limit for this deal.” I haven’t purchased though. My mom just tried too and then got same message. Anyone know whats up?
Angela Davis says
They might be sold out but may be giving you the wrong error message.

The family deal on Groupon is sold out. 🙁

I had already bought this Groupon but was able to cancel it and buy again with this deal. Thanks so much for sharing! A little confused on the having $15 left over on the Groupon cards though. I saved the $15 when purchasing the gift cards at the register but the Groupon with the 15% off ended up being $50.15 so nothing left over on the cards. Just clarifying so I didn’t miss something. Thanks!

If you use a promo code for more off. I was able to get 25% off with the MOM25 code. They you would have about $15 left on your groupon card.
Amanda says
Worked like a charm! $35 for the two gift cards at Fred’s, used the mom20 for a 20% off. Family pass for a year and have $2.80 in groupon bucks leftover. So $32.20 for the total. Awesome! TY, Angela.
Angela Davis says
Nice! I’m so glad it worked for you, Amanda!

MOM15 worked for me! Thanks.
Teirney says
Use code “MOM20.” Last night when I was on there they kept changing the code at the top. I used the 20% off one and it worked great.
Chris says
I could not see the Groupon special at fred meyer rewards site. I put Groupon in search and it only directed me to regular priced gift cards.
Liz says
Same problem here!
Megan K says

Annie says
Does anyone know if Children’s Museum or the Zoo does discounted memberships ever throughout the year?
Erin D says
Annie- Our neighbor has a zoo membership and got a promotional code for 15% off a membership (I think, I can’t remember exactly) that she passed on to us. Make friends with people who have memberships and maybe they will give you their promo code 🙂
Angela Davis says
Annie: They are incredibly rare.
Michelle says
Annie, I don’t know if you already know this or if you would qualify but if you or a family member in your house receives any sort of public assistance, you are able to get a Family Access Membership for $15 for the whole year. I didn’t know anything about this until I happened to look on their website. Just wanted to share in case it applied to you! http://www.portlandcm.org/join/family-access-program
