The Dalles Safeway has been extremely unreasonable the past several months and will only allow the $10 off/50 coupon if your total is over $50 AFTER all coupons are deducted. Today when trying to use the $10 off coupon, the clerk said the total must be $50 excluding dairy! I couldn’t believe it!!
The dairy exclusion is actually on the coupon. I think there is some government rule against discounting dairy because of subsidies. However, I recommend contacting Safeway via their facebook page about your trouble using the $10/$50 coupon. Perhaps this isn’t the best way to do it now. But 2 yeas ago I did this 2-3 times and I haven’t had problems at my Safeway since. Something else to try is to point out that the coupon will scan if the total is above $50 even after they scan all of the manufacturer’s coupons and bring the total down. You could ask them to give it a try at the very end to see. I guarantee your coupon will scan as long as your total is above $50 before coupons. You can also print the Safeway coupon policy from their website and point out where it says that it works before coupons. Good luck!
I have also contacted Safeway Corporate via phone and they have credited me the $10 which they simply add to my card. The next time I used my card, that $10 credit was there and available for use. They have also done this for errors or when I don’t get my just4u pricing.
