$10 off $50 purchase coupon this week at Safeway
The first week of the month Safeway usually releases a $10/$50 purchase coupon. This coupon can be found in the back of the mid week food-day section of the Oregonian. This coupon is usually good starting Tuesday. This is nice because you can use the coupon for the current ad cycle, or for the next week’s ad cycle, or both if you have taken our web class and have multiple subscriptions to the Oregonian. Today I was able to get everything in the picture for just $20.48 and I also received a $1.25 catalina so just $19.23! Here are a few details on my trip.
- The Yoplait yogurt deal was featured here.
- The Pillsbury cookie dough & Fresh Express deals were in the weekly Safeway deal post here.
- I had a personalized price on my card for the bananas, green onions, eggs, ice cream, & pasta
- There was a $1/1 Simply Orange coupon that is no longer available (NLA) that I used on the Simply Orange Juice.

You know how I get around the 10/50 issues? I hand them that coupon first after they hit total, then pull out my was of prearranged and organized coupons from my wallet or purse. Yes- sneaky. But by that time they have already scanned the 10/50 and can’t say anything. I get so frustrated with difficult cashiers!

Ugh! 20? While I totally get donating to charity, it seems unfair not only to the company who is generous with the coupons but also to those who came behind you wanting to get just enough for their own personal use and they were gone. Coupons like these will go away completely if abused. No wonder cashiers and stores are getting grumpy.

I was able to print these… as is anyone else. I didn’t take anything from anyone. There were still lots of kits left on the shelf as well. I’m sorry if you find this “abusive”.
sandie says
not sure how that was allowed as the store has a limit of four coupons of the same one.

Oops, my store doesn’t. I can use however many I like.

I just tried to print a Fresh Express coupon from the link and it’s $1.00/1 now as opposed to the previous $2.00/1. Guess they wised up to the great deal!
Shelby says
They put out a new magazine each month. The $2/1 Fresh Express Salad Kits had been out for about a month. Now it’s the $1/1 Fresh Express Salad Blends, $.75/1 2lb Peeled Baby Carrots, $1/Prunes, and $.50/1 Orchard Valley Harvest 2-2.5 oz mini stand up bag

Oh I completely forgot that it is a new month and therefore new coupons. I always save a pdf of each month’s coupons to my desktop so I can use them until they expire.
Amy says
Brittany – how do you save a pdf? I have tried to print to pdf and the sites always say that my printer settings are incompatible. I assumed it was because they didn’t want anyone to save to pdf. I would really like to know how so I don’t end up printing a bunch of coupons I don’t end up using.
Brittany from Frugal Living NW says
You can’t save to a pdf for most coupons. These coupons are actually a pdf to start with so the printer page comes up that asks you how many you want to print, from what page to what page etc. So I save to pdf from there.

Do your deal go for the Denver Colorado area also?…I tried some of them and the prices are different…can you please confirm?..thanks 🙂
Brittany from Frugal Living NW says
I think the Denver area runs a similar ad but with some discrepancies. The biggest differences are always in the produce and meat departments. Many deals will translate to your area but not all of them. I’m not sure if Colorado Safeway stores double coupons.
Maria says
They do double coupons up to one dollar but i don’t have to get a coupon for that…the machine does it automatically. I asked the questions because i went to get the deal on the salad and they don’t have it on sale here :(.Also we don’t have the 10 off 50 coupon. I wonder why is so different. I do like your website a lot. Thanks for the good couponing advice 🙂

I love when you post picture of your shopping (couponing) 🙂
My favorite Safeway is giving me hard time when I use $10/$50… I know per their coupon policy it has to be $50 after all Safeway discounts but before manufacturer coupons. So last time I printed coupon policy and gave to cashier (my favorite cashier) but she told me that manager told them to ring that coupon last, and it has to be after all MC…Other than that store at Vancouver 63rd is still my favorite store. And I don’t complain anymore, I put some meat or something else to be $50 after MC.
Tera says
I’ve had that happen before, but I just asked the cashier to ring it up at the end anyway. “Just to see” It totally worked even though my total was only around $35.00. Maybe if you have the coupon policy print out AND have them just try it, they’ll believe you 🙂
Brittany from Frugal Living NW says
Oh I’ve had a similar experience. I had my coupons stacked with the $10 Safeway coupon on top. They set it aside and scanned all of my manufacturer coupons first. Then they scanned the $10 coupon even though my total had dipped below $50. The coupon still worked. They computers are set to work this way so if you are brave you might try Tera’s suggestion. I’m positive it will work as long as you hit $50 after Safeway coupons and not including milk.

I had printed coupon policy with me back than, she did read that part, but also she told me that manager has rights to change policy… I didn’t try any other store because that store is coupon friendly, only that coupon is ” problem” …
thanks for help ladies:-)
Edie says
My store scans the $10/$50 after all other coupons, manufacturer included, and it still works, even when the total goes under $50. It’s just how their system is set up.
maja says
they won’t to even scan $10/$50 coupon if it is below $50 after all coupons. I told her to try but she said it’s not how they are told to do that coupon. Every store is deferent , only I can do is to speak with manager or to change store….
stephanie says
Or you can call their 1-800 number. I have done this and they put me on hold and called the store at that moment to tell them they needed to follow the correct policy.
Brenda says
maja,
If you’re willing to drive across town the Safeway on 162nd and 4th Plain will take the $10 coupon even if your total falls below $50. It’s my favorite Safeway to shop because they are so coupon friendly and I gladly drive by a couple other locations to shop there. It’s worth it to me!
Joanna says
$10 coupon is also in today’s edition of The World here on the south coast.

thanks Joanna!

Where can i get FREE FOOD DAY in SW Washington county? We didn’t get it whole street today.

When the paper guy misses my street I go by the apartment complex. They usually have a paper stand near their mailboxes.
Blaine says
Can you use more than 1 – fresh express coupon in 1 transaction?
Brittany from Frugal Living NW says
I have never had a problem using 4 or 5 at a time.
mona fields says
I used twenty today (yes, 20… personalized price of $1.99- will donate 17 of them to a local shelter), and had a few other good coupons; used the $10/50 and paid $6.xx for everything I got… including two pkgs of 93%lean hamburger that was 50% off!!!
Howard says
I wouldn’t want to eat 46.5% lean hamburger.
Kate says
Hope that was a special order on the fresh express. 🙂
