We have super dark granite and it shows absolutely everything. I typically just clean it with vinegar and water but when I want to get rid of the streaks, the only thing we’ve found that worked was Granite Gold. It’s super expensive and never goes on sale so I was eager to try out a homemade version.
For just pennies, I tried out the recipe below and it works great. I’m really impressed with how it leaves no streaks.
I found the refillable spray bottles at Dollar Tree. They came in a bunch of different colors and so far they are spraying great! You can never beat $1 but if you don’t have a Dollar Tree near you, Amazon has several different sizes and options to choose from.
I had all the ingredients at home already which made this a breeze.
Homemade Granite Spray
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol
- 2 drops dish detergent
- 3 drops essential oil of your choice
I used tea tree oil to cover the rubbing alcohol scent but you could use any essential oil. I think a lemon, grapefruit or any other citrus scent would be wonderful!
Just mix all the ingredients together in a bottle and it’s ready. I doubled the recipe above to fill an entire spray bottle.
